Chemmy Alcott visits Profeet for ski boot fit -

Hot on the heels of Britain’s most successful gymnast, Beth Tweddle, another Olympian visited Profeet this week.

Chemmy Alcott has slightly more experience than Beth – having represented Great Britain at four Winter Olympic Games, but this time she is preparing for a completely different event.

The Arctic Circle Race
In March 2015 – just 14 weeks time – Chemmy will be taking part in the Arctic Circle Race – a 160km cross-country skiing race across extreme terrain in Greenland.

Not your normal ski boot fit…
As part of her preparations for the event, Chemmy and team member Max Wilcocks came into Profeet for a ski boot fit.

Cross-country ski boots are completely different to alpine boots, so our analysis took place on the treadmill in our Run Lab.

Chemmy’s team – The Arctic V: Ski 4 Cancer – have been equipped with Atomic Redster cross-country boots.  This is much more like a walking boot than a ski boot, with no rigid shell nor a separate liner.

Even though there is no ‘floating’ section when cross-country skiing, we were able to look generally at how the foot moves and then create a custom insole to ensure maximum comfort.

We wish Chemmy, Max and the rest of their team all the best in their training and for the race itself.   You can sponsor them online on their Just Giving page.

Best of luck to The Arctic V…
