Profeet sent a team of four runners to the Carphone Warehouse Race to the Stones this weekend – and came away with a win!
The winning team
An iconic route, over 5000 years old
The Race to the Stones is a 100km ultra marathon that passes along the famous Ridgeway path from the Chilterns in Oxfordshire to the North Wessex Downs.
It’s the oldest known path in Britain and has been used for 5000 years.
3rd overall for Max Willcocks
The team were led home by Max Willcocks, who took 3rd place on the podium in 9:21, only shortly behind Scott Forbes 9:04 and Wyclef Forbes 9:06.
4th place for Pip
Next in was Pip Blackburn in 4th, finishing in 9:48.
It was a particularly good finish for Pip, who showed some superb pacing; he passed the midway point in 23rd and was still 7th place at the 70km mark.
Chris Howe had a tougher day, struggling with the heat and humidity.
Although he dropped down the ranking from 8th at half way, his 23rd place finish in 10:43 was still very impressive and enough for Profeet to win in the team category.
The Profeet team
The fourth member of team was Profeet’s social media manager, Iain Martin (and the author of this post). I also found the heat and humidity tough, but managed to cross the line in 101st place in 13:09.
It was a serious challenge and a great day out, with some amazing views along the way and a highly recommended event for anyone looking for a long distance challenge.
