Graham Bell visits Profeet as he prepares for Marathon des Sables -

Last week Ski Sunday presenter Graham Bell became the latest celebrity to visit Profeet.

Running, not skiing
Graham has been a regular at Profeet since we opened.  He supplied our Skiers Edge machine – which we use as part of our ski boot fit process – and he has had regular boot fits himself.

However, the focus of this latest visit was not skiing, but running.

Marathon des Sables
Graham has entered the famous Marathon des Sables – the five-stage ultra race that takes part in the Sahara desert each year – and billed as the ‘Toughest footrace on earth.’

The race itself is a real challenge, not just of endurance, but also organisational skills, as all competitors have to carry all their own food for the entire event.

Testing Graham in the Run Lab
We ran Graham through his paces in our Run Lab.  We assessed his feet, talked through his injury history (there’s been a lot!), gave him a full gait analysis and built custom footbeds.

Graham left us with two pairs of Asics Nimbus – one pair slightly larger than the other for the race itself.  We agreed a trail shoe wasn’t strictly necessary for this race and this type of road shoe is lighter, more cushioned and overall more suitable.

Walking With The Wounded
Graham is raising money for the charity – Walking With The Wounded.  You can find out more by following him on Twitter.

We wish him all the best for the race and will update you on his progress.
