“I have been sceptical, intrigued and, when it comes to some of the trail models, totally confused as to why someone would wear them!

However, the Hoka One One Tracer model looked really good on paper – light, low drop and easy on the eye. Profeet kindly provided me with a pair and over the last 2-3 weeks I have run a variety of sessions in them totalling 150+ miles.

I have run my easy morning runs through to steady runs and on to running my longest run of this marathon-training block at Wings For Life World Run.

The Hoka One One Tracer shoes don’t fit quite as snug as a typical racer but are comfortable from the first step. Although heavily cushioned in comparison to other racers, they still feel light and nimble. The extra cushioning is being used effectively and not at all cumbersome as my sceptical side had thought!

The added benefit of the cushioning is how kind the Hoka One One Tracers are on the legs. Although marketed as racers, I have and will continue to use these shoes for all types of running. They are light enough to race in, durable enough to run long runs in and kind enough for those post race recovery jogs. So far they also appear resilient enough to use day to day!

My sceptical side has gone, certainly for this model. I have yet to try any other models but Hoka, with the Hoka One One Tracer, well done!”

 The Tracer’s ultra-lightweight upper reduces water retention to keep the shoe light no matter the conditions.
