The Pro Machine

a new boot from Nordica this year which replaces the GPX. To create the Pro Machine Nordica said they took the all-day comfort of the slightly wider fitting Speed Machine and “fused” it with the DNA of the Doberman race boot. It’s not as if the world of ski boot fitting was crying out for another low volume boot, but the Pro Machine seems to be so much more than just that. It follows the new trend of lighter weight alpine boots but don’t let that fool you; the performance is not at all compromised.

The ankle hold is incredibly firm with pre-shaped anatomical grips, and in the 120 and 130 flexes has the addition of cork inbuilt into the liner, which gives a denser firmer hold. The shape of the boot lends its nicely to individuals with narrower feet or those looking for a more performance orientated fit. The infrared heating technology incorporated into the shell makes stretching the boot a dream. This allows us to be able to easily perfect the fit for even the most difficult feet. The higher flexed boots also come with Grip Walk soles which makes walking to the lifts and dancing on tables during après easier!

Atomic Hawx Prime

Another boot that I have been impressed with this season is the updated Atomic Hawx Prime. There have been several changes compared to previous versions, bringing the boot right up to date with some exciting new features. Atomic pioneered the use of lightweight plastics with the introduction of the Hawx Ultra boot 2 years ago and this technology now features on the Hawx Prime.

The boot also features ‘Memory-Fit’ technology which makes customising the boot simple. The Memory-Fit plastic allows us to use the clients foot to shape the boot if necessary again a feature which as a bootfitter is a dream.

The Prime maintains its 100mm medium last and is an excellent option for those with a high instep and narrow ankle.
