While studying biomechanics, Hamish began combining that hands-on expertise with custom insoles, video gait analysis and pressure mapping. At a time when much of this technology and thinking was associated with elite sport or clinical environments, Profeet brought it into an approachable retail setting where everyone could benefit.
From the opening of our first Fulham store in 2001, Profeet pioneered a different kind of specialist footwear fitting, bringing together science and technology with craftsmanship, experience and truly individual service.
After Hamish’s death in 2012, the principles he built Profeet around remained at the heart of the business: knowledge, understanding, honesty and a belief that great people make the difference.
In 2025, a change in leadership marked the beginning of a new chapter for Profeet, and a renewed commitment to those founding principles. We are building on more than 25 years of experience while looking again at what made Profeet special in the first place.
Our Founding Principles
The knowledge, technology and attention once reserved for elite athletes should be available to anyone who wants to move more comfortably and perform at their best.
People come before technology.
Pressure mapping, video analysis and other technology can tell us a great deal, but they are tools. The real difference comes from the knowledge, experience and judgement of the person using them.
Everyone is different.
There is no single ‘right’ shoe, boot or insole. We listen, understand what you need and build the solution around you, not the other way round.
Knowledge should never stand still.
We have always believed in learning, questioning and sharing what we know. Products change, technology develops and our understanding evolves. So should we.
Honesty matters.
Our job isn’t simply to sell you something. It’s to recommend what we genuinely believe is right for you, and to say so when something isn’t.
Expert doesn’t have to mean intimidating.
We take what we do seriously, but we want Profeet to feel approachable, straightforward and human. Great service is as important as great technical knowledge.
These principles shape how we fit, how we learn, how we work together and how we look after every person who comes through our doors. Ultimately, they only matter because of the people who put them into practice..
Our team
Our team combines expertise in ski boot and footwear fitting, biomechanics, sports science and custom insoles with years of working one-to-one with customers. But being a Profeet technician is about more than technical knowledge. It takes judgement, practical skill, curiosity, the ability to listen and understand, and a willingness to keep learning.
We train extensively, share what we learn and draw on the collective experience of the whole team. Different backgrounds, specialisms and personalities make us stronger, while the same principles run through everything we do: knowledge, understanding and honesty.
Meet the people behind Profeet…
Shula
Profeet Founder
Shula’s first memory of skiing was being entangled and dragged backwards on a T-bar at the age of 6 years with her mother! The love of skiing was thus ingrained and as soon as she left college she headed for the French Alps where she worked as a mountain and ski guide for 7 years. In the off season she worked as a boot fitter for Snow + Rock – and it is here that she met Hamish who dreamed of opening his own specialist Boot Fitting Lab. They eventually pooled their knowledge and pennies to bring Hamish’s dream to reality – and Profeet was founded.
With nearly 40 years now under her belt in the ski industry, Shula is proud to still be here. Today, you might occasionally see her getting hands dirty in the Profeet workshop and telling the young ones tall tales of stem-christies, double daffies, failed hellies, and skiing the first monocoque ski.
She is proud to have worn horrendous (but now ridiculously retro) one-piece suits and shouldered stupidly long skis that, let’s face it, only looked good when being held upright in the ski queue.
Frazer
General Manager
Yorkshire born and bred, Frazer began working in the ski industry at 16, with a Saturday job on the snow slope at Xscape Yorkshire. That first role led to numerous ski seasons in Canada and France, qualification as a Level 2 CSIA instructor and a boot fitting career that now spans 20 years. Frazer first joined Profeet in 2014 and spent 7 years with the team, before returning in 2025.
He holds a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science and the highest-level professional boot fitting qualifications available through Masterfit, Sidas and the British Ski Bootfitters Association. He is also a member of the Society of Shoe Fitters and a certified ski technician.
His longstanding interest in biomechanics shapes the way he approaches every fit: understanding the person as well as the footwear. From first-time skiers and recreational runners to Olympic athletes, Frazer has worked with almost every kind of foot and fitting challenge. He brings together academic understanding, technical skill and hands-on experience that few bootfitters can match.
Paul
Biomechanics & Technical Lead
Paul is Profeet’s go to person for biomechanics and performance footwear. A podiatrist since 1998, he holds an MSc in Clinical Biomechanics and a PgCert in Sports Podiatry.
His interest in footwear began during his undergraduate studies, where his research examined the relationship between stud placement in rugby boots and forefoot lesions. He later completed his MSc at Staffordshire University, with a dissertation exploring how runners perceive comfort in footwear.
During his clinical career, Paul has treated athletes from a wide range of sports, including professional and international rugby players from clubs across London. He worked with the out of hours on call team during the London 2012 Olympic Games and in the Athletes’ Village medical tent at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. He has also spoken at internationally recognised biomechanics conferences about sports footwear, including how carbon plated racing shoes work and how they influence running performance.
Johan
Operations Manager
Johan joined Profeet back in 2014. His journey has taken him from the chaos of busy ski rental shops, fitting boots at speed, to the rather more considered world of specialist, one-to-one ski boot fitting.
He’s spent the last decade-plus getting to know feet, boots and, occasionally, the people attached to them. He’s fitted countless pairs of ski boots and worked with everyone from complete beginners to serious skiers looking for that extra bit of performance. Along the way, he’s developed a knack for figuring out what’s causing the problem and, more importantly, how to fix it.
Away from Profeet, Johan can sometimes be found doing something that involves going a very long way on foot. He’s a keen long-distance runner and occasional ultramarathoner, which means he’s had plenty of personal experience of just how important it is to get the fit right, especially when there’s another 50km to go.
Laquan
Assistant Manager & Senior Profeet Technician
With over 11 years of experience in the ski industry, Laquan brings a strong coaching background and a passion for helping people get the most from their time on the mountain.
Having trained with Warren Smith, Laquan has worked across some of Europe’s best-known ski destinations, including Verbier, St. Moritz, Cervinia, Bansko, Avoriaz, Les 2 Alpes and Pila. These experiences have provided a broad understanding of different skiing styles, abilities, and mountain environments.
For the past four seasons, Laquan has specialised in ski boot fitting and customisation. Trained by respected experts in the field and having completed specialist ski boot-fitting courses with Salomon, Laquan combines technical knowledge with a coach’s eye for movement, comfort, and performance.
Whether helping a beginner find confidence or fine-tuning the setup of an experienced skier, Laquan is focused on creating a precise, comfortable fit that allows every customer to ski better for longer.
Steve
Filio
Profeet Technician
Filio joined Profeet in 2025 after completing an MSc in Sport Biomechanics at Loughborough University. With a strong background in running biomechanics, she enjoys applying her knowledge to help runners better understand their movement and find the right footwear for their individual needs. A keen runner and kickboxer herself, Filio enjoys staying active and is passionate about understanding how biomechanics can help people move and perform at their best.
Rory
Profeet Technician
From the Cotswolds to Canada, Cardiff and now Clapham; Rory’s skiing journey has taken him to at least a couple of nice places. With hands on ski experience in Banff and now multiple seasons at Profeet he takes a personable approach to boot fitting, understanding each clients individual needs. When it comes to the slopes Rory comes from the school of ‘self taught’, style and panache the name of the game. Carving? Never heard of it
Emily
Profeet Technician
Emily has a degree in Sports Technology from Loughborough University. She’s always had a passion for sport, with a main background in football and sprinting. These days, she’s swapped the 100m for marathons and the occasional ultra — because apparently running further is a good idea! She enjoys combining her technical knowledge with her own experience as a runner to help people find the right footwear for them.
