Foot & Biomechanical Assessment
We start by assessing your foot shape, foot type and function. We measure your foot length and width accurately, evaluate your range of ankle motion and look at your lower body alignment. Our qualified technicians then observe your gait using a pro treadmill and dynamic foot scanning, to gather information about your movement patterns. We listen and learn about the kind of terrain you like to cover and what you are looking for in a walking boot or shoe. This allows us to formulate a clear understanding of what footwear will work for you.
Walking Boot or Shoe Selection
From the evaluation we will select appropriate footwear to meet your criteria which you can try on the treadmill and around the Lab. Our Profeet Approved range aims to cover all foot shapes, foot types and biomechanical (gait) profiles. We work closely with manufacturers and assess the fit and function of all the boots and shoes we stock.
Custom Insoles
Custom insoles, the secret of the Profeet Fit, can be created during a Pro Hike Assessment appointment. Key for support and comfort, our custom insoles are designed to hold and cushion your feet within your footwear. They are moulded to each individual foot and tailored to precisely fit and work with your boots or shoes for a truly bespoke solution. They help to reduce fatigue and blisters, improve foothold and stability, and minimise the risk of feet sliding forward as you walk downhill.
Exercise Programme
In addition, our qualified technician may provide strength and conditioning exercises to help improve your movement and prepare you for whatever walking, hiking or trekking adventures you have in mind.
Boot Stretching
Should you require boot stretching, we use specialist tools to gently steam and stretch boots to accommodate bunions, bone spurs, lumps and bumps. This service is suitable for natural leather footwear and you may sometimes need to leave them with us to do this. (We can mail your boots to you when ready if that is preferable).

Our Pro Hike Assessment is a one-to-one process that delivers the most complete footwear, insole fitting, and comfort solution available. This service is suitable for walking, hiking, trekking, and individuals who spend time on their feet and want to increase comfort or improve performance.

Find the right shoes or boots for your feet
This assessment covers the essentials for getting you in the right shoes or boots. Performed by our qualified technicians using professional video gait analysis equipment and treadmills. Suitable for walkers and hikers with no injuries or those looking for help selecting a shoe or boot.

Please note: This appointment type is not available at peak times. We might not be able to work on the make or type of footwear due to materials used etc. You might need to leave your footwear with us overnight.

Our Profeet Fit Guarantee
Although we do our utmost to make sure you leave Profeet comfortable with your new footwear and/or custom insoles, we understand issues can arise.
The Fit Guarantee Adjustment is offered as part of our Profeet Fit Guarantee which enables you to come back into store, have your problem assessed and one of our technicians will come up with the best possible solution to address the issue.
This free-of-charge service is valid with a Pro Hike Assessment in the Outdoor Lab. If you are having issues, please call us on 020 7736 0046 to discuss/book your follow up appointment.

Appointment time length can vary slightly depending on individual requirements. If you arrive late, we may need to alter the assessment to suit the available time or to rebook you an alternative date and time.
Additional insoles can be purchased during your appointment. However, may not be possible to finish more than one pair during an appointment and later collection or posting may be necessary.
Walking boots or shoes, Custom Insoles and other footwear are charged separately and not included in the Assessment cost.
