Richard from the Profeet Outdoor Lab explains how to lace a walking boot for a high instep to prevent pain.

 

Whenever there’s an issue with high instep pain in your hiking boots, either across the top of your foot, because you’ve been going up and down hills, or just in general because you’ve got a high instep, this is the lacing technique for you.

 

The Surgeon’s Knot technique

 

Lace it up as normal to the bottom of your pressure points, then cross over the laces and clamp the laces this down.  This is also known as a ‘surgeon’s knot’ lacing technique.

 

This takes the pressure away from your instep and onto a different area.
