Mt Hutt in Canterbury, one of New Zealand’s largest ski areas has opened for action. At an altitude of 2085m and only 90minutes drive from Christchurch this area has some of the best snow around, and consistently the longest season in the South Island. In 2015 it was voted Best Ski resort at the 3rdAnnual Ski Awards in Austria.
With world class facilities this area is popular with skiers and boarders from beginners on the wide groomed pistes to experienced racers using the international race arena. On a good day there are spectacular views to the Pacific Ocean one way and the Southern Alps in the other direction.
