Tin-Tin Ho has once more firmly established herself as a leading figure in British table tennis, recently clinching her seventh Women’s Singles title at the Mark Bates English National Championships.
A quick recap
Tin-Tin’s journey in table tennis began at a tender age. Her early talent became evident when she secured national titles in the Under-11, Under-12, and Under-13 categories during the 2007/08 season. Over the years, she has amassed an impressive collection of national titles across various age groups. Her first Senior Women’s Singles title came in the 2015/16 season, and she has since added six more to her name. Her doubles record is equally commendable, with national titles spanning the Under-14, Cadet, Junior, and Senior categories. These accomplishments serve to highlight her versatility and ability in both singles and doubles formats.
International Success
Internationally, Tin-Tin has represented England with distinction. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, she partnered with Liam Pitchford to secure a silver medal in Mixed Doubles — a feat they replicated at the 2018 Games on the Gold Coast. In addition, she played a pivotal role in the English Women’s Team that secured a historic bronze medal in 2018. In 2019, alongside Austria’s Karoline Mischek, Tin-Tin claimed the European Under-21 Women’s Doubles Championship title, further cementing her status on the European circuit.
Olympic Endeavours and Academic Pursuits
In 2020, Tin-Tin, reached a significant milestone by qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics, becoming the first British female table tennis athlete to do so since 1996. Whilst this didn’t result in a medal for Tin-Tin, it was nevertheless an exciting career highlight and a personal ambition fulfilled. Balancing her athletic commitments, she is also a medical student at the University of Nottingham, illustrating her versatility and dedication to both her sport and academic studies.
The Seventh Title
Entering the 2025 English National Championships, Ho was very much aware of the opportunity to equal Jill Parker’s record of seven Women’s Singles titles. The competition was fierce, with notable challengers like second seed Tianer Yu, who had previously pushed Ho to a seven-game semi-final in the prior year. Despite the challenging opposition, Ho displayed both skill and mental stamina throughout the tournament. In the final, she faced Tiana Yu, delivering a commanding performance to secure the title in seven sets.
Reflecting on her achievement, Ho expressed gratitude and determination. “Reaching this milestone is incredibly humbling. Jill Parker has been an inspiration, and to stand alongside her in the records is an honour.”

As she continues to balance her academic pursuits with her sporting ambitions, the future looks bright for this remarkable athlete. Her journey serves as an inspiration, not only within the realm of table tennis but across the broader spectrum of sports and education.
