The line up
Come and check out the popular SALOMON AERO GLIDE 4 GRVL and get a feel for them in real time. It’s an awesome chance to test the gear in person, meet fellow runners, meet the Salomon & Profeet techs and enjoy a casual run together. If you’re interested in these new concept shoes, this is the perfect way to see what they can do for you.

What are gravel shoes?
Gravel or GRVL shoes are built for people whose typical routes aren’t strictly one thing or another, but rather a seamless flow across mixed terrain. For instance, in London, you might start your run on city pavements, transition through a local park or heathland, follow a canal towpath, and then head back home on the road. This is the perfect example of how a gravel shoe could better meet your variable needs.
What’s different about gravel shoes?
It’s all about versatility. The idea is to keep the smooth ride and cushioning of a road shoe while adding enough traction and durability for dirt and compacted gravel paths. With this in mind, the aim is to blend the best of road and trail running technologies – taking into account cushioning, impact forces, plus the lighter weight and energy of road shoes, and adding to that a durable, stable sole with more traction and grip. They may also include a gentle rocker to smooth out the transition and retain some of that satisfying road-shoe feeling.
Who are they for?
Whilst they can’t be all things to all people, the gravel shoe does a fine job of setting you up for a best-case scenario as you head out on your morning (or anytime) run around the capital. Also, if you’ve found yourself with a wardrobe full of different running shoes for different purposes, you may find that this one pair hits the right notes and reduces the number of shoes you need – though you may want to keep your race-day shoes for special occasions.
These shoes can also be ideal for those who run less frequently, or for travelling when you don’t want to take too many pairs.

A case in point
The Profeet team recently ran the Endure24 round-the-clock event in Reading in mixed conditions. With tarmac pathways, woodland, tracks and muddy bits, and very mixed weather – sun, rain, wind – the gravel shoe was indeed the ideal shoe. Some people were ill-equipped with their regular running shoes, sliding around on the muddier parts of the route. Meanwhile, our team trotted around consistently and comfortably in their new gravel all-surface runners.
You can see the benefits on paper, but why not come along and try them out? During this event, we’ll be hosting a short demo to showcase the features, then we’ll be hitting the pavements around Fulham to put them to the test. Pick up tips and hints from the Profeet and Salmon team during this easy-going, social event.
Don’t miss out—swing by and lace up for some GRVL action!
