Profeet's Quick Blister Guide for Runners - how to avoid and treat blisters
Blister management

WHAT & WHY?

Blisters occur when friction happens between the top layers of skin and they split. This causes fluid to fill the split causing a bubble like appearance.

Moisture and heat make blisters worse as they both increase the amount of friction.

HOW TO AVOID THEM

The best way to avoid blisters is to condition the skin to become as strong and stretchy as possible.

To increase strength:

  • Spend time on your feet!
  • Rub feet with zinc sulphates and potassium permanganate.

To increase suppleness

  • Use cocoa or shea butter
  • The aim is to increase elasticity without increasing moisture
