Pierre Meslet has the answers

Pierre is an ultra-runner, coach, and osteopath who has quietly built a reputation as one of the most consistent single and multi-day stage racers in the sport. What makes Pierre particularly interesting is that thanks to his work as an osteopath and his passion for running, he deeply understands both the physiology and real-life experience of long-distance running. As a result of his extensive race participation, he has developed strategies for pacing, fuelling & hydration, energy management and heat adaptation, and exactly how to build endurance. His approach is all about sustainable training, injury minimisation and long-term progression.

This year Pierre is once again tackling the Marathon Des Sables: 3rd – 13th April 2026.

An evening of fascinating insights

During this interactive customer evening, Pierre and Profeet Expert, Paul, will be discussing what it takes to go further. We’ll cover ultra event or MdS training and preparation, the challenges and the thrills, the terrain variation, biomechanics and running gait, the importance of footwear, foot health and blister prevention, and more – followed by the all-important Q&A session. If you love running, you’ll love this event.

    Core Biomechanical Principles

As a devoted runner and health practitioner, Pierre has looked at every aspect of running in immense detail. Taking himself as the subject, he has explored and analysed every step, working with Profeet to refine technique and select the best footwear.

    Proprioceptive Efficiency
Pierre emphasises that trail running increases neuromuscular efficiency and proprioceptive ability due to the constant need to adapt to uneven terrain. Sounds complex but Pierre will break down the science.

    Arch Support & Propulsion
Pierre uses Profeet custom insoles to manage his naturally high foot arches, which provide support and reduces foot fatigue over long distances. Our insoles help stabilise the heel and foot, leading to better propulsion and more efficient muscle contractions.

    Sustainable Form
As an osteopath, he focuses on maintaining form in a sustainable way, believing that “you can’t cheat anatomy”. He advocates for listening to “niggles” as early warning signs of biomechanical failure.

    Practical Technique Recommendations

Pierre promotes specific technical habits to optimise a running gait and reduce injury risk.

    Neutral Alignment
Keeping the hips neutral and level with the spine to ensure joints are “happy” and the body maintains a straight line from the spine through the hips to the landing leg.

    Efficient Foot Strike
He recommends short strides with minimal ground contact time, aiming for a mid-to-forefoot strike as close to the centre of the body as possible.

    Active Recovery & Terrain Variation
He suggests mixing road and trail running to gain strength from the trails while using the softer surfaces of the trail to be gentler on the knees for recovery runs.

    Auction and Charity Donations

During the evening, Pierre will be auctioning some sports kit and nutrition products in aid of the charity he is supporting – “Du Sable dans les Yeux” – Sand in the Eyes. You can also make a donation directly here.

    Du Sable Dans Les Yeux

DU SABLE DANS LES YEUX is a charity with a unique mission: sharing a common passion for sport with people living with a disability. Staff and volunteers work tirelessly to help people with handicaps take part in extraordinary and official sporting competitions.

    All of this and more

As you can see, Pierre is a running champion and mentor. Alongside Profeet’s Paul, (who, by the way, completed Endure24 in 2025), the pair will deliver an evening of insight, facts and essential tips, direct from the horses’ mouth. Their approach is uplifting, encouraging and educational.
