It’s been far too long since I’ve shared some news of racing and training with the Profeet world! Profeet my wonderful supporter, who I have been with for over 12 years now has been instrumental in keeping me consistent and injury free for many years.

This year, due to coaching commitments abroad until summer I have focused on very specific low volume training. Mainly intensity each week without much volume at all, which as an Ironman athlete is quite strange but the focus was always to try develop the neglected speed. This has carried over in the 4 races I have done so far:

  • Tadcaster sprint May – 2nd overall
  • Eton Sprint May – 6th 35-39
  • Ripon National Champs Olympic distance, July – 3rd 35-39
  • Redcar Sprint, July – 3rd 35-39

I now have ITU World Tri champs to aim for as a bonus next month in Rotterdam, which I qualified in both distances but will only be allowed to race the one, so will do the Olympic.

The goal is to try to get back to Hawaii, so I have an Ironman late this year and will take my new speed over to that, so we’ll see!

In addition, I would like to perform well in a Half Ironman and have a complete broad spectrum of sprint all the way to Ironman this year as World Half Ironman champs are in South Africa next year, my home country!

I’ll update you after my next two distance goals are done!

Many thanks to Profeet!
