Jess recently came into Profeet to be fitted for custom insoles to help her get the most from her training and competitions. We took the opportunity to catch up with her latest news:
Hey Jess. How is your winter season going?
My winter training is going great. I’ve been focusing a lot on technique and building up my strength and endurance as this will be really helpful on the runway.
What events do you have this year and which one is your main focus?
My main competition focus will be Grosetto, Italy where the European Junior Champs take place in June. However I’ll be concentrating on jumping the required standard throughout the whole season, and to improve my PB as much as possible.
How have your custom insoles helped in your training?
My insoles have been so helpful because last year I went through a period when I wasn’t wearing them and I had really bad foot pain. However, as soon as I started using my Profeet insoles, the pain went away almost immediately and I haven’t had any foot problems since!
How do you find juggling school and training?
I do find it difficult to balance school because my top priority is athletics. However, I have my A-levels in the summer so I have to concentrate on those too.
To balance it, I like to study on my rest days so that I don’t feel tired for training and I also try to make the most out of my study time. It helps to keep organised and plan what I’m doing when – getting enough sleep is crucial.
Good luck with the exams – it sounds like a good balance. What’s your main goal for 2017?
My main goal for 2017 is to medal at the European Junior Championships in Italy and to jump the Commonwealth standard.
We wish Jess all the best for the 2017 outdoor season and look forward to following her progress.
