Six of the Profeet staff at our Fulham store will be taking part in this year’s MoonWalk London on 14 May 2016.
Taking part in this half marathon night time event are Teri Billon, Rosie Young, Beth Hammond, Janine Winter, Emma Kirk- Odunubi and Maria Sanchez.
For Emma, this is also part of her preparations for her Iron Challenge later this year.
Run assessment at Profeet
Teri told us about how the team have been preparing for the event:
This is the right time for shoe fitting and getting our custom insoles sorted, so we can incorporate them into training for the event.
So I became a customer for the day and tried out a Profeet Run Assessment.
Custom insoles, plus recommended exercises
Emma had made me a custom pair of insoles for me in November, and she noticed during the professional gait analysis that I had a fairly significant hip drop on the right side and that my calves were quite tight, which was affecting my gait as well.
She recommended some specific stretching and strengthening exercises to incorporate into my daily routine to address these two issues.
The great news is that Emma saw a marked improvement in my hip drop, although not much improvement in the calf tightness, probably because I focused my attention on strength, but not the stretching.
I’m currently wearing a Brooks Ghost 7 along with the custom insoles Emma made for me, and have found them very comfortable.
Training for the MoonWalk
Now that I am actively training for the MoonWalk, I’ve been much more diligent about stretching as well as strengthening regularly.
And I’m happy to report that my shoes and insoles are performing well now.
