Profeet thoughts: The Kayano is a staple from Asics and has a customer base who love the shoe and go back for it again and again. This update sees a slight increase in space in the toe box which adds to the comfort level so the foot is not cramped. The shoe still caters well for a narrow midfoot and ankle well too.
Overall, the feel underfoot is supportive but soft. This shoe is ideal for a rearfoot pronator. The forefoot is however very soft. Therefore, having a runner who pronates through the forefoot may not work too well in this shoe and they may be better suited to something firmer.
Upper is made from an engineered Jacquard mesh which enhances foot hold. There is also extra hold around the heel with the heel counter sitting externally to add grip and security (also called the metaclutch). Noticeably the inner padding around the heel feels extremely comfortable also.
The midsole of the Kayano is using Asics’ well know Gel Duomax cushioning adding support and comfort underfoot. The use of combined with the light Flyte foam cushioning for extra light comfort through the midfoot with the foam then moving into the forefoot to be super propulsive.
