The CCC is part of the UTMB race series. There are multiple races run throughout the mountains of varying difficulties and every year thousands of runners descend on Chamonix to compete, crew and spectate these phenomenal events!
This year we had four ambassadors competing across three different events. Natalie was in the TDS (123.4km), Robbie in the MCC 40km course and Tom took part in the CCC (101km) along with fellow ambassador Chris.
Finishing 1st in the CCC is a dream come true, I still can’t quite believe it! The first half of the race did not go to plan and I had to stay mentally tough and keep working the whole way to the finish. It was only at the 94km point (101km race) that I took the lead. It shows that with ultra running that the race doesn’t end until you have crossed the finish line! Natalie did extremely well and finished 13th lady in a time of just over 20 hours, in a packed field of 1799 runners! Robbie took 6th overall in the MCC coming through in 4hrs 4mins. Chris came through the CCC and completed it! It was his first ever experience running in the mountains and he was extremely pleased to finish within the time limitation.
Profeet Ambassador Tom Evans won the CCC at the end of August in incredible style. Throughout the tough race which involved Tom struggling with sickness and the wet conditions, Tom had been roughly 14 mins behind the leader of Min Qi. In the latter 20km of the race, Tom put his foot down and started to claw back time! The second to last checkpoint he had closed the gap to 3 minutes and at the last checkpoint had overtaken Min Qi and had the lead by 12 seconds!
In the end Tom won by well over a minute. It was an amazing race and his best result of his career so far. If you know Tom, you know how much hard work he puts into his training and that this win was earned!
