Training update from Profeet running ambassador Paul Navesey -

I love running… even though sometimes it can suck… I still bloody love it.”
PAUL NAVESEY – Profeet Ambassador

I had a great period of racing this time last year at Highgate Night of 10,000m PBs & Stockhom Marathon, but a less than ideal 2nd half of 2017 in to 2018 followed. I did very little running. I also did my best to be bad at cycling as I managed to dislocate my shoulder by falling from my bike! When I was out of a sling and finally had a recurring injury issue resolved I got back to training.

With guidance & an exercise in patience from my coach, Allison Benton, combined with a stellar group of training partners I started to put some consistent weeks training in… and more running obviously meant being less grumpy! No one is cheerful with a running ouchy, right?!

Having not done much racing I was hugely excited to be heading toward a few start lines, feeling a little light on training I was also quite nervous. There was no need to be, I returned with a win and PB over 5000m at the Sussex County Champs and a solid run just outside my PB at Highgate Night Of 10,000m PBs.

A couple weeks later I travelled up to the Southern England 5000m champs and had my first experience of running heats and finals. Finishing up 4th in the final but with another chunk off of my PB.

So, very pleased with getting back from injury and into racing. I took a few easy days and I am now in to training for my big target this year, Berlin Marathon.

I have definitely learned to be more patient with my training and recovery when necessary!

Hopefully see some of you out at Berlin or at a race on route!
