Sir Ranulph Fiennes visits Profeet prior to Marathon des Sables -

Sir Ranulph Fiennes is currently competing in the gruelling ultra-marathon the ‘Marathon des Sables’, aiming to be the oldest Briton to complete the race and is racing funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Custom insoles from Profeet
As part of his preparations, Sir Ranulph visited the Profeet Run Lab to be fitted for custom insoles in his Brooks Adrenalin running shoes.

Profeet Run Manager, Richard Felton, created and shaped his insoles, fitting them to his shoes during a visit by Sir Ranulph to the Kingston University heat acclimatisation chamber.

Coached by Rory Coleman
Sir Ranulph was recommended to Profeet by his coach, Rory Coleman, who has completed the Marathon des Sables 11 times.

According to Coleman, Sir Ranulph has started the race well. At the end of stage two, he lay in 1223rd position, with two solid stages behind him.

Kingston University Heat Chamber
Many athletes take a visit to the Kingston University heat chamber prior to the Marathon des Sables, as it allows them to recreate the unique conditions of high temperatures and low humidity.

Leading Briton, Danny Kendall – currently in 8th place – also used the heat chamber as part of his preparations for the event.

This video shows Sir Ranulph testing himself in the heat chamber under Rory’s watchful eye:

We wish Sir Ranulph and Rory all the best. Today is day three – just a few more marathons through the desert to go…!
